Decision Design for Life
Decision making can be hectic – there are so many ideas, options, opportunities, opinions, courses, ‘shiny objects’ to chase, lots of rabbit holes to go down but, who? what? when? how? and which one will deliver me what I want in life – it can be overwhelming.
It has been said ‘You can do it all… but not all at the same time’ – so how do we choose, prioritise, stay focused, and get the results we want in our lives?
Decision Design for Life – is all about You, Get Clarity, more Confidence and a sense of Calm. Enabling you to step out of your comfort zone.
Back yourself, be 100% yourself, get focused on what is important to you in life. With this clarity, the ‘noise’ and ‘opinions of others’ seem to quieten – so you can get on with making your life happen.
Living your Values enable you to increase your Circle of Influence, which in turns reduces your Circle of Concern
Download the PEP Talk – it will add food for thought, with more background to how a change in our decision making can change the outcomes, our ripple effect, for the better.
“Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.

By considering the People that matter to us – immediate family, colleagues or people in our network, by being clear about our connection to the Environment and by outlining for ourselves what Prosperity means….
…We can live a meaningful life – one decision at a time.
Our brain is wired to follow a step by step process – We get consistent results when MAKING complicated things – from a match to a rocket ship… our track record for engineering, technology, Medical technology/advancements is off the charts… however we get inconsistent results when managing complexity (human relationships, the environment, and economies/ prosperity) that’s why the Decision Design process enables us to MANAGE the complexity of People, Environment & Prosperity as well as including what we are good at – MAKING complicated things.
PEOPLE: Who are the people that matter in your life?
- Consider what kind of Relationships you want, with your family, your friends, your neighbour, your community, your colleagues, your connections, your networks.
- How do you build trust, show love, find Common ground, articulate shared values, understand diversity, collaborate, accommodate others?
ENVIRONMENT: What is your connection with the Environment?
“Given everything we eat and consume comes from the earth at some stage of its life cycle, considering what the ripple effect is on the environment from our decisions and choices could be quite worthwhile, maybe the least we could do if we want to thrive.”
We are part of the environment – our skin dries out in air conditioning, our skin absorbs moisturiser, we get sunburnt… there are no physical boundaries in nature, the skin on animals, fruit and vegetables are permeable, like ours… hence our decisions have a ripple effect – positive and negative.
Where do we start with the environment?
By understanding and considering our impact on the 4 functions of Life that underpin our life. If we want to keep MAKING and consuming things… these 4 functions have to be continuously considered so they can thrive.
Diversity of Species
AT THEIR BEST
Soils ability to hold moisture, lots of Transpiration, reduced evaporation from land, reduced run off – recharging aquifers.
High % ground cover, manure converts into nutrients, lots of underground life – roots, critters. Lots of organic matter & soil carbon.
Green plants to convert sun rays into energy and sugars to grow roots/plants and activate soil biology.
Good conditions for lots of species – plants and animals to flourish
To ensure these 4 functions thrive we need to understand the impact of the Tools we use to MANAGE.
Listen to the P.E.P talk to dig deeper into understanding how we can consider People, Environment & Prosperity in every decision and apply the tools that enable all 3 areas to thrive …
The application of these tools are discussed in greater detail – here are some key topics I discuss.
We can have Ideas, Money and be ready to put Effort/Labour in… but to cause the change we have to pick up at least one of these other tools (Technology, Time or Living Organisms) to MAKE or MANAGE. Depending on how we apply these tools – the ripple effect will be either more positive or negative…
So, let’s understand how to use the Tools, to get the maximum positive impact…
Technology – is anything people have MADE can MAKE- (from a match to a Rocketship) we need to be sure it solves the root cause of the problem, keeps the soil covered (not turned over) and feeds the soil biology.
Time – we MANAGE time every day – we all have 168hrs/week – how do we choose to use it.
Time is for healing ourselves – physically and emotionally.
Time is for nurturing, nourishing, growing, harvesting.
Time is for being together, learning, sharing, working, relaxing, volunteering.
Time can restore & degrade land depending on how it is managed.
Living Organisms – provide us with various options we use to MANAGE – for ourselves and the environment.
Living organisms are the live cultures in your kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut, ferments, Kimchi for gut health.
Living organisms are our chooks, dogs, worm farms etc that reduce our food waste.
Living organisms are the worm tea & compost that fertilise the garden for food.
Diversity in natural and human communities provide stability.
Living organisms provide integrated pest management to reduce chemical use and enhance diversity in crops and human health.
Did you know? Mobbed grazing animals that are managed with planned moves to the next paddock – restore landscapes in seasonal grasslands (It is the ‘how’ not the ‘cow’) as the moisture in their gut is the only way grasses can be converted into manure which feeds the microbes in the soil that builds and sequesters soil carbon. Critical for mitigating climate change. (Savory Institute- Grasslands)
As consumers, we can do our bit for the environment by consuming less, or thinking about the source of the item we are buying…
The Food We Eat – Is it from a regenerative farm? How is it produced? Is it clean food (chemical-free). How is it packaged? How much is enough? Can we minimise waste – compost/feed animals?
Things We Use – How much is enough? What do we need? Can we reuse, repair, refurbish, recycle them? Am I recycling/re-using? How is it made? Who makes it? Are the resources used renewable?

What does Prosperity mean to you.?.
- How much is enough?- Profit, Money, Risk, Debt, Security/ Control, Business Management
- Invigorated, Zest for Life, Energised by sharing knowledge
- Freedom, Calm, Relaxed, Choice, Contentment
- Long term/Legacy/Wealth/Rich Relationships
- Time-invested/$ returns/What are you investing in?
- Awareness of the consequences of Source of money/use of money & Aware of the Consequences – Source of Energy/Use
- Ask good questions about what we MAKE, and consider the best way to MANAGE people, environment and prosperity.
It’s one thing to be alive. It’s something else altogether to live – and work – according to who you are deep down.
